  • 1.8 18g engine - no head going for FREE

A freind of mine has an 18g 1.8 engine - head going for free.

It's a bit hard to access so can't tell if seized or not

It's in the High Wycombe area.

    Regards

Curious, if it has a cylinder head with it, do you know the casting number, because it would indicate valve size and oil gallery for the rocker arm.
Or is it an original head, still for leaded fuel.

      The engine is as is.

I know nothing more than it has been dried stored for at least 10 years.

I have attached some more pictures but is the best I can do with my busted ribs.

If you are interested then pm me and I can arrange a viewing.

Extra info - it is definitely a 1.8 mg high compression engine.

      Regards

Block might be HC, but after 40+ years, the head could have been changed multiple times.

It looks like a basket case from your photos, a complete top to bottom rebuild required, reground crank, rebored cylinders, new pistons etc.

Quite probably less work to rebuild a running engine, than deal with an unknown corroded lump.

Hey I'm doing it for a freind, she lost her husband a little while ago and will be moving so trying to clear the garage.

If no one wants it then it will go to the scrap yard.

          Just thought I would try.

          Especially as it is free.
