A freind has found in her Garage a MGB gearbox with overdrive.

Stamped on side is MOWOG. 22B309.

Collect only from Downley High Wycombe.

Don't know condition but free to anyone who wants it before the house is sold.

    Fine for an MGB.
It won’t fit a Marina 1800 based roadster, for many, many reasons unless you have changed the back plate, starter motor, flywheel, spigot bearing, clutch, etc etc. Not to mention the transmission tunnel and clutch mechanism.

There might be someone out there, who might want it, but it’s very much an MGB part, not a Marina based Marlin Roadster part!

1800TC, Unleaded ported head, stage 2 cam. Ford Type 9 gearbox, Dolomite Sprint rear axle fitted with MGF disc brakes.
Three core radiator, Renault Clio vented front discs.

Fine, it's free and if no one wants it, it to the dump.

It's not mine and there may have been someone who was interested.

Always good to post this, someone may have been driving around in an MG B Series powered Marlin with a noisy gearbox!

        - 4th owner of Q309 RNV, an early Cabrio built by Bob Copping, owned Doug & Liz Billings for 16 years
        - 9th Custodian of JRR 929D, Triumph Vitesse based special Paul Moorehouse built prior to the Triumph Roadster kits.
        - 8th owner of Roadster chassis number 2395. Now owned by Barry!
        - Builder of chassis number 2325 (PKK 989M) in the mid 80's. Now owned by Eric & Lynne.

          There could indeed!

But this is posted in the Roadster section of the forum, and not in the Parts section.

A limited number of Roadsters were built with MGB engines and gearboxes, owners are likely to be well aware as a Marina never appeared with overdrive.
Frequently Marina 1800 cars are sold to new owners, describing them as MGB powered, in an effort to avoid the alleged Marina stigma, even though quite a few MGB’s were retrofitted with Marina engine blocks as they were considered by many to be better!

My remarks were intended to remind and inform readers that the MGB box is not a straight swap onto a Marina engine.

A free gearbox may well be attractive but the cost of the additional parts need, unless readily available FOC, not to mention the changes to the transmission tunnel, make the project uneconomic, though some will still attempt it.

Parts for Marina 1800 gearboxes like gear clusters are still available though becoming rare due to low demand, most but not all internal parts, including bearings, ring gears and selectors etc. are available as they are common with small Triumph Cars so have been remanufactured for the much larger Triumph Community.
