Back in the late 50's onwards I used to live near Westerham in Kent, the home of Crayford Engineering, their workshop was to the side of Caffyns garage. I remember seeing 6 wheeled and 8 wheeled Amphicats outside but never knew about their conversion work with cars. Very interesting. David.

I cannot be sure, but Oxted Trimming or their predecessors probably did the upholstery and roofs for them, the certainly make some money retrimming aircraft from Biggin Hill.

It was a hotted up motor for sure.

Looks like the one I destroyed when I was a teenager!! Paid £8 for it.

I wonder how it handles with no front suspension travel ... ?

Perhaps it has Air suspension like a lot of modified American cars. ( and some standard English ones)

Perhaps. But it may also have been modified by a clueless amateur with no thought for other road users ...

(I still shudder when I remember the kit car at Stoneleigh that had a 'pigeon-sh*t' welded steering arm ...)
