  • 2.0 pinto starter motor

Does anybody know if there is a starter motor from another car that fits the 2.0 pinto engine. Going to replace mine and wondered if it’s interchangeable with another vehicle?

    many thanks.

I believe that the Pinto was the only engine to use the 135T starter motor. Check the number of teeth on the gear before buying.

I think it may also be a case of which Ford models used the year/model of pinto that you want to replace the starter motor on. I had to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) on my 2L injected pinto to get the correct air/fuel combination, solving lumpy tick-over and better overall pick-up and running. I 'could' get one in the UK but places like SierraSpares was asking circa £250 for a secondhand one (couldn't find any new OEM ones, what a surprise........). A bit of investigation showed that the Transit also had my model of pinto u till circa 1995 and I was able to get one from a breakers in Germany for £50 including shipping. Job done and car running sweetly.

You can also get geared starters on eBay or try Burton Power... they are a bit expensive though

Burton Power have been suggested to twinstacks several times.

They are without doubt Ford specialists and worth listening to!

Yes got a new upgraded starter motor. Fitted and works a treat. Even got it running for a little while. Thanks.
