  • Parts Availabilty - Marina based roadster

I am considering taking on a Marina based Roadster project.
But before I go any further it struck me that perhaps I ought to ask the question about parts availability for the Marina base?
I guess engine and gearbox bits generally available, as long as whatever project I find isn't using something obscure.
But what about suspension and brake parts? I guess many of those are Marina specific.

    Cheers, Robin

    Robin,
There are many members of the club who are better qualified than me to advise you on Marina parts availability but I would suggest you study and understand the IVA test requirements for a car like the Roadster.

Sorry. Should have been clearer. Looking for a car that has already built once and now needs TLC. Have already put two cars through the SVA and have no intention of doing it again!

      Cheers Robin

Look on eBay. lots of Marina bits. Others will suggest other suppliers they know. I have a roadster and (touch wood) I have always found what I need. Good Luck

Hi Robin, welcome to the MOC.
Marina based roadster parts are mostly readily available second hand, new old stock or even new.
Advice and help is available almost immediately from this forum from many with far more knowledge than myself.
There are a few parts that are sourced from other cars like the front shock absorbers which are from a Triumph Herald, the front top wishbones are from a classic mini, fuel tank from a Escort mk1 or 2 van or estate and a variety of parts that you may wish to modify your own unique car.
I am currently rebuilding mine and you can have a read up of my rebuild diary from Cornwall, if you want some quality bed time reading that will probably send you to sleep :-)
          Cheers, Martin.

            Hi Martin,
I'm doing same, but using Mx5 engine, gearbox and electrics.
