  • Stoneleigh Kit Car Show

Although the organisers of the Stoneleigh Kit Car show are apparently in discussions with the show ground about the possibility of rescheduling the show I think it is fairly clear to everyone that it will not take place on 2nd/3rd May. As a result we have cancelled the marquee and will endeavour to hold an AGM at some point in the future.

In the meantime, stay safe everyone and I look forward to the possibility of meeting up with some of you much later in the year.

A sensible and responsible decision. Modern tech can enable meetings to take place remotely more than adequately,

Hello, I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone that the Stoneleigh Kit car show on 2nd & 3rd May has been postponed although, to the best of my knowledge, the organisers have not put anything on their website to this effect. However, Complete Kit Car have stated that the event is postponed and a new date to be confirmed. If a new date later in the year is announced we will let you know.

Take care, keep safe and carry on fettling your Marlin.

which kind of indicates that Grosvenor have more to worry about than kit cars.
i would not be surprised if this virus does not put paid to many specialist activities.
it is difficult to see, for instance how the global sport of motor racing, in its current various guises can survive.
I can imagine for instance that Formula One reverts to low budget privateers the heyday of the sport with the likes of Cooper, Brabham, BRM, Scarab, Vanwall etc.

That would be great Steve. I remember in the early 70's Lotus pranged a car at Oulton Park. My boss was a mate of Colin Chapman and he sent one of our flatbed wagons to Bradford IIRC to bring another car down. They rebuilt it in our workshop in Tarporley. Colin Chapman gave me a load of passes in the 'Rising Sun' so that I could go and pick it up and take it back on the Sunday. GoldLeaf Team Lotus F1 car roped on the back of a 7tonner and I didn't get a single photo! Wander around the paddock tents chatting to mechanics. Good days!

New date for Stoneleigh. 29th and 30th August. I hope it happens but I can't see mass gatherings being allowed by then.

As Scott has mentioned the new dates for Stoneleigh have been announced as 29th & 30th August and I also doubt that mass gatherings will be allowed at that time even with relaxation of the lockdown. Even if the show does go ahead we would have to think seriously about whether or not we organised the usual marquee because that, by its very nature, would encourage close contact. I'll try and keep everybody informed but if anyone hears anything please let me know.

Bearing in mind the average age group of Marlin owners, a marquee would be potentially catastrophic.

Trump had a great idea. Injecting disinfectants will either

Looking at the current statistics, bearing in mind that i have an option, I feel safer in Spain than I would in the UK.

Spain was in lockdown whilst the UK government thought that Cheltenham races should go ahead, resulting in many hospitalisations.

I will be giving any large gatherings a swerve for the rest of this year, and possibly the next.
