  • Cleaned and conditioned the vinyl seats, and sorted a fuel filler leak

Did have any good standard clamps handy, the old ones were no longer holding properly. These are exhaust clamps, they're not coming off. They're done up with a 10mm socket.

The seats are starting to look a bit grotty, I've actually had the what was the drive seat completely to bits as the internal metal structure broke, more on that here: https://www.marlinownersclub.com/for...but-I-fixed-it

    Grot:

    More Grot:

    oooo shiny:

Even got a visitor when I took it out into the sun to warm the vinyl for the second layer of conditioner:

    mmm shiny:

Achieved this almost like new look with Meguires leather and vinyl cleaner. Took 4 goes at it to get the grot out of the deepest texture - very impressed with cleaner. Finished it up with Zymol vinyl conditioner. You apply on the vinyl let it sit of a bit and then buff with a cloth. Feels nice and smooth now. Also cleaned the dashboard and the door trims the same way.

        Thanks

I ended up changing the filler pipe and the hoses for the vent last weekend. Degraded rubber, the fill hose more solid than rubber. The garage, and as a result my kitchen, bathroom and workshop were filling with petrol vapours which was not very pleasant.

Cobra 7 seats? Made my backside ache after 1/2 hour!

yeah Cobra Roadster 7's - not impressed with the quality. I've had the cover off the driver seat to weld the frame back together as it had snapped on both sides (there are less than 7000 miles on the car). I've been considering replacing them with MX5 or S2000 seats at some point. I don't need the harness holes anymore as I changed to reel belts - I like being able to see behind me now but turning and looking.
