          Yes that's right, what I didn't realise was that they are supposed.to sandwich the wedge as well.

              Some marina's (mine being one of them) didn't have the top location plate. See diagram below. The lowering blocks supplied have a 3° taper to replace the steel wedges

                        I think the plates are used to wrap the rubber to make it stiffer. In what way would they need cutting to fit?

                                I have the same superflex bushes and yes they are longer than the original so I would probably trim them to be the same length as the plates as the overhanging rubber at each end will provide no benefit. I suspect that they are actually universal and can be used in several applications as they look similar to Mk1 Cortina bushes.
