  • Chassis Corrosion Rear Outer Swing Arm Pivot

    Ahoy !
Have found an area of corrosion that is on the side of the chassis member, above the afore mentioned pivot which looks
to me like an area of either poor fabrication or stress related corrosion. (Messy, linear and granulated) Happy to dig out and rebuild but
wonder if it has happened before and if anyone has given thought to reinforcement ? Smaller area on offside too.

'Worry yea not !' Had a closer look with welding glasses on; it appears to be an example of what is known in the trade as 'pigeon excrement' welding ! (Either MIG wire feed or gas too high giving the appearance of a line of toothpaste lying on the steel rather than melted into it ). Might have to take off wing to get at it. If it was stress related it would have a crack across the bottom of the box section I surmised. The bit on the other side was dirt !
