  • Sportster steering Self Centring

My Sportster failed it’s IVA this morning. One issue was steering self centring. I seem to remember threads on getting this right through tweaking wheel alignment.
Can any one share the process they went though to get it right, or even some figures for the alignment they ended up with.
If it makes any difference it is E39 based but has the front axles from an E36.

As I recall self centering was always a bit of an issue of my Sportster and others built arround the same time. This was in the era of E30 donors.
I ended up tweaking the camber so it was slightly positive which seemed to do the trick.
Also helps if the tyres pressure is higher than you would normally expect on a car of that weight.

    Cheers Robin

With E30 front uprights, mine passed once the tracking had been adjusted. Regards
