Oooh, errr! Pride comes before a fall! Having said yesterday that the car was running really well on the way to Newark, it broke down on the way back. Bowling along the A1(M), there was a sudden loss of power, and I made it onto the hard shoulder, where the engine died. A quick check round and it appears almost certain that the fuel pump has given up the ghost - no ticking. Not the first time the fuel pump has failed, but the last time was about 12 years ago. Had to wait nearly 2 hours to be rescued, while stood in an ant's nest! Didn't notice them until both me and Ringo had got bitten - nasty little things! It was a really nice chap who came for us, and we had a pleasant chat on the way back. Got home about 8pm instead of expected 4.30pm! Car now locked in garage.

Quick update - Having ignored the Cabrio for as long as I could, I finally fitted a new fuel pump this week, and the car is running sweetly again. I have to say that crawling under or over cars is getting ever more difficult, but there is only one thing worse than getting old!
